May 2017 Forecast from Dr. Michael Lennox

April 24, 2017

One of the primary modalities that I work with is astrology.  What I love about astrology is that it leaves nothing out.  As a 360-degre approach to the way life unfolds, there is no up without the down; no expansion without the contractions that accompany it; no Light without the Shadow that is always cast behind it.  By spending so much time experiencing life itself as mirrored by the movement of the planets, I can truly declare on an ongoing basis something that I am fond of saying, which is, “You can’t make this shit up!”

As an example, Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld, is charged with change and transformation at the deepest level.  Capricorn is the sign that governs our societal structures.  When Pluto moved into Capricorn a few years back, astrologers everywhere were a bit on edge as to what this transit might bring.  Would Pluto destroy old structures as predicted?  It was January of 2008 that Pluto moved into Capricorn and in the month of March, he stationed to go retrograde.  In laymen’s terms, it means he stopped moving that month, increasing his impact on our experience.  That was the month that the financial and housing markets began to collapse in earnest, and nothing has been the same since.

Pluto continues to move through Capricorn, ripping down old, outdated structures left and right.  The current political landscape is setting us up for even more dramatic change.  Movements are popping up everywhere, and all of us are being activated to respond to these changes in a very new way.  It is our responsibility to find Peace in our individual hearts, so that there will be enough traction in order to create Peace for Humanity in the outside world.  This, I believe, is the purpose of all spiritual practice and why I do what I do, not only in my own daily practice, but through what I teach and hope to inspire in others.

Let’s look at the landscape of the current month and see what the lens of astrology has to tell us about the process we are currently in.  It’s one of the big months of the year, which promises some unexpected events, and dramatic shifts and changes in the landscape; both in the outside world as well as inside our own, private experiences.

At the very end of last year, Saturn and Uranus pulled into a Trine with each other.  Saturn, the Great Teacher, rules structure, restriction and life-lessons.  Uranus is known as the Great Awakener and his presence always brings the unexpected.  Can you think of an unexpected twist that highlighted the last two months of 2016?  Well that same energy is going to repeat itself this month, with a peak around the 18th, so look back to the end of last year for a clue to what may come this month.  Anything that might have arisen for you, especially in December, may rear up again and force you to contend with life hitting you very much on life’s terms.

At the very beginning of May, Mercury will go direct after his usual 21-day backward journey.  For the three weeks that follow, you can expect issues that came up during late February and in April to need a bit of revisiting and wrap-up.  Once we get to the end of May, Mercury enters two months of what I call the “Free and Clear” cycle, where he is direct, with no retrograde in sight.  That is a great time for making plans where you don’t want to be hindered by any delays in getting your words and ideas out into the world.

Speaking of wrapping things up, Venus was retrograde for all of March and half of April.  This created scenarios where we were working on Love, intimacy, relationship, and money matters in a fairly profound way, but on the inside of our consciousness.  Old lovers may have revisited us in order to show us how far we have come.  Blockages to how we give and receive Love certainly should have been triggered in a big way.  We are still in the third part of her cycle, though she went direct on April 15th.  From that date through May 18th, Venus is going over territory for the third time that she crisscrossed over since early in the year.  Between now and the third week in May, you can expect some closure that may have been elusive over the past several months.

The first weekend of June of this year features a glorious Grand Fire Trine between the North Node of Dharma, Saturn the Great Teacher, and a very exciting Uranus/Venus Conjunction.  Uranus is known as the Great Awakener and his only job is to raise our consciousness in great leaps and lighting flashes of inspiration.  Of course, Venus brings Love with her everywhere she goes.  Grand Trines create huge vortexes of energy, and in Fire Signs, a tremendous amount of alchemy possible.  Under this influence, I will be leading my yearly retreat at Shalom Mountain.  It promises to be a transformative and exciting weekend and I hope to see many of you there.
